What
Aggregated Fall Analysis brings your fall data together in one place. It shows fall counts, fall rates, and response times across every community and cluster you manage. This is the first and only overview in Nobi that combines data above the level of a single community.
Why
Keeping an eye on falls across many locations takes time. Without one overview, you open each community's dashboard on its own, just to see how falls are trending. Aggregated Fall Analysis saves you that effort.
It lets you compare fall rates and response times across all your locations at once. You quickly see which places need extra attention, and you follow your progress from quarter to quarter.
Resident names and personal details are never shown, so privacy stays protected.
Good to know: the resident dashboard, sleep reports, and other views stay available per individual community only. Aggregated Fall Analysis is the one view that works at account and cluster level.
Who can see this report
Aggregated Fall Analysis is available to any manager with access at account or cluster level.
To check your access, look at the top left corner of Nobi:
- A downward arrow next to the community name means you have access. Click it to open a dropdown with your account and its clusters.
- No arrow means you do not have access yet.
Select the account to see the overview across all your communities. Select a cluster to narrow the overview down to the communities in that cluster.
No access yet? Contact Nobi Support to be made a manager at account or cluster level.
Open the report
Click the account or cluster you want to review. Nobi loads all its data into the overview.
Export your results to Excel or PDF at any time.
Filter the report
Set your filters at the top of the report. You have three:
Department type. Choose one type or view all. Nobi uses five fixed types: Memory care, Assisted living, Independent living, Skilled nursing, and Other. Departments without a type show as "Unassigned". Set a type for every department before you analyze, so your data stays complete.
Date range. Choose the timeframe you want to load.
Falls checked by. Choose how a fall counts as a real fall:
- Checked falls by Nobi: fall escalations that Nobi has reviewed and confirmed as real falls.
- Checked falls by care staff: fall escalations that your own care staff have analyzed and classified as "a resident who fell".
Important for "checked falls by care staff": for any month where your care staff analyzed less than 95% of that month's fall escalations, that month's data does not show at all. This keeps the picture honest, since a mostly-unreviewed month could make the fall count look too low. Analyze your fall escalations regularly, so every month shows up.
The summary
At the top of the results, you see four figures for your selected account or cluster and filters:
- Checked falls: the number of falls, based on how you checked them in the filter.
- Falls per 1,000 resident-days: the fall rate, corrected for the size of each community.
- Median intervention time: the midpoint of your response times.
- Communities in scope: how many locations feed into this overview.
Using resident-days as the base lets you compare fall rates fairly across communities of different sizes and across different time periods.
Fall rate, month by month
See checked falls and falls per 1,000 resident-days for each month in your date range. View it as a chart and as a table, broken down per department type or as a total.
How falls vary by care type
Compare falls across department types:
- The left graph shows the fall rate per 1,000 resident-days per department, so it is corrected for size.
- The right graph shows the distribution in absolute numbers.
Do you not see the right graph? Then you selected a single department type in the filter. Select "All departments" to see the distribution.
First months with Nobi
Fall rates are often highest in a resident's first weeks and tend to drop the longer a resident lives with Nobi.
This section tracks the average fall rate across a resident's first six months of active smart monitoring, in monthly ranges (0 to 1 month, 1 to 2 months, and so on up to 5 to 6 months).
A "first month" starts once three conditions are met: the resident is linked to a housing unit, smart monitoring is active, and at least one light is out of setup mode. From that moment, Nobi creates escalations for falls. For a community that completes these steps on day one, this matches the resident's move-in date.
This section always covers every resident's first six months, so the date range filter does not affect it. Each range needs at least 100 resident-days before a rate shows.
Quarter over quarter
Compare each community's fall rate and median intervention time between the two most recent complete quarters.
Green shows a decrease, red shows an increase. Results are sorted by the latest quarter's fall rate. This section always compares the latest two complete quarters, so the date range filter does not affect it.
If you selected a single department type, you may see fewer communities, since some may not have a department of that type.
Concentration of frequent fallers
Sometimes most falls come from a few residents. Those residents carry a high fall risk and need closer follow-up. This section helps you spot them:
- Unique fallers: how many residents have fallen at least once.
- Top 10% of fallers: the share of all falls coming from the 10% of residents who fall most often.
- Frequent fallers: the share of falls coming from residents with six or more falls over a 12-month period.
Below this, a chart shows the distribution per personal fall count, from residents who fell once up to the highest fall count.
Smart-monitoring adoption
Track, month by month, the share of resident-days with active smart monitoring, out of all the days a resident was registered in Nobi and linked to a housing unit.
A higher rate means residents benefit from Nobi's smart features, like fall detection, for more of the time they are being cared for. It also means your community collects consent and activates smart monitoring quickly.
Care staff analysis
You see this section only when you select "checked falls by care staff".
It shows the share of falls each community has analyzed over time, per month.
A community shows in red for any month where less than 95% of its escalations are analyzed. That month is then left out of all fall figures entirely: it contributes nothing to the counts and rates.
Intervention time
When someone falls, fast help matters. The sooner help arrives, the lower the risk of further harm. Intervention time is the time between the start of an escalation and the moment an extra person enters the room.
- Median intervention time: the midpoint. Half of the interventions were faster, half were slower. Track this figure first, since it is less affected by a few very long interventions.
- Average intervention time: read this one with care. One or two very slow interventions can pull it up and make things look worse than they were.
You also see the median trend by month, and a distribution chart rounded to the nearest minute. The taller a bar, the more falls handled in that amount of time.
Bars grouped to the left mean most falls are handled within a few minutes. A long tail to the right shows the rare cases where help took longer. In short: the more the bars lean left, the faster the care team responds.
Only interventions within 4 hours count toward these figures.
The full picture, per community
A summary table brings everything together, per community:
- Falls
- Unanalyzed falls (shown only with the "checked falls by care staff" filter)
- Falls per 1,000 resident-days
- Median and average intervention times
You see these month by month and for the full period, sorted by total falls.
Falls by cluster
If your organization uses clusters, you also see a summary per cluster, plus the number of communities in each cluster.
This number can change with your department filter. For example, filtering on "Memory care" may drop a cluster from two communities to one, because one of them has no memory care department.
Want to dive into one cluster? Select it in the dropdown at the top left. The whole overview then shows only that cluster, and the "Falls by cluster" section drops away.
Definitions
Real fall: a resident involuntarily ends up in a lower position, specifically sitting or lying on the floor.
Checked falls by Nobi: all fall escalations that Nobi has manually reviewed and confirmed as real falls.
Checked falls by care staff: the fall escalations in the application that your care staff have opened, analyzed, and classified as "a resident who fell" under "specify escalation details – the reason for this fall was".
Resident-day: a day counts as a resident-day when a resident with active smart monitoring is linked to a housing unit where at least one light is out of setup mode.
Why resident-days: resident-days are the base for every calculation in this report. 1,000 resident-days is a standard measure that compares fall rates fairly across different time periods and community sizes.
Falls per 1,000 resident-days (/1k): the number of falls divided by the number of resident-days, multiplied by a thousand: (falls ÷ resident-days) × 1,000.
Intervention time: the time between the start of an escalation and the moment an extra person enters the room.
How intervention time is measured: Nobi determines it on a best-effort basis. When it cannot reliably tell when help arrived (for example, the resident crawls out of the room), the intervention time for that fall is left out. The fall still counts in all fall figures, such as checked falls and falls per 1,000 resident-days. Only its intervention time is skipped.
Median intervention time: the middle time between fall detection and intervention (h:mm). Half of the interventions were faster, half took longer. It is less affected by unusually long times. Only times up to 4 hours count.
Average intervention time: the average time between fall detection and intervention (h:mm), across all interventions. Unlike the median, a few very long times pull the average up and make it higher than the median. Only times up to 4 hours count.
First months with Nobi: the first six months a resident has smart monitoring active. It shows how fall risk drops the longer smart monitoring runs. A month needs at least 100 resident-days to show.
Unique fallers: residents with at least one checked fall.
Top 10% of fallers: the share of all falls coming from the 10% of residents who fall most often.
Frequent fallers (6+): residents with six or more falls over a 12-month period, and their share of the total number of falls.
Smart-monitoring adoption: the share of resident-days covered by Nobi smart monitoring (smart-monitored resident-days ÷ all resident-days), per month.
Advice
Set a department type for every department, and analyze your fall escalations regularly. That way every month's data shows up and stays accurate, and your overview stays sharp.
