How to Maintain the Nobi Bridge

In this guide you will learn how to replace the battery inside the Nobi Bridge.

What

Maintaining the Nobi Bridge means replacing its battery. The Bridge is battery powered, and therefore may need replacing. A Nobi Bridge has one battery, a Nobi Bridge Duo has two.

You open the Bridge, swap the battery, put it back on the wall, and test that the connected tool still triggers Nobi.

Why

When the battery is empty the Bridge stops sending signals to the Nobi light, and the tool connected to it no longer triggers Nobi.

The tool itself gives no warning, so a call cord can be pulled or a pressure mat stepped on without anything happening. Replacing the battery as soon as the Bridge stops responding makes sure the resident can always reach out when they need help.

 

Detailed steps

Follow the steps below to change the Nobi Bridge battery.

  1. Disconnect the wired tool from the 3.5 mm jack.
  2. Take the Bridge off the wall. If it is mounted with screws, remove the screws first. If it is mounted with adhesive tape, ease it off gently.
  3. Open the casing to expose the battery compartment. The circuit board inside is held down with velcro.
  4. Lift the board off the velcro. Hold it by the edges, not by the wires. Remove the old battery from the slot.

  5. Insert a new CR2450 3V lithium battery into the same slot, with the + side facing up, away from the velcro, and the blank side facing down.
  6. Press the board back down onto the velcro so it sits flat and holds.

  7. Close the casing. You will hear a click when it is fully closed.
  8. Mount the Bridge back in its place and reconnect the wired tool to the jack.
  9. Test the connection by triggering the wired tool, for example pull the call cord or step on the pressure mat, and confirm that Nobi starts the expected escalation.

The Nobi Bridge duo has two boards, one for each connected tool, each with its own battery. Replace both at the same time so both tools keep working.
