In this article, you will learn what Wearable Calls are, how they work with Nobi, and how they let residents request help beyond their housing unit.

What
A Wearable Call is a Resident Call triggered by a wearable call button linked directly to the resident.
The resident can wear this device at all times. It can be placed in a pendant or wristband holder, which simply houses the Wearable Call button. When they press it, a signal is sent through the nearest Nobi light or Gateway in range to trigger the escalation. This means the resident can request help anywhere in the building where Nobi lights or Gateways are installed and working, not just in their housing unit. The escalation will then clearly indicate the location of the nearest Nobi light or Gateway.
Wearable Calls follow the configured escalation procedure, and how care staff are notified depends on whether Escalations via Nobi Mobile App is enabled. When enabled, the resident call is sent to all available caregivers through the Nobi Mobile App, where they can see who is responding and claiming the call, maintaining a clear overview of the escalation. When disabled, the escalation notifies care staff by phone call only. The system automatically calls through the escalation procedure until someone answers and confirms.
During a Wearable Call, the Nobi light does not allow users to analyze the situation. Communication through the Nobi light is also not available.

Why
Residents are not always in their housing unit when they need help. They may be walking in the hallway, sitting in a common area, or visiting another housing unit. Wearable Calls extend the residents' ability to request assistance from care staff outside of their housing unit.
Since the wearable call connects to the nearest Nobi light or Gateway, caregivers can quickly identify where the resident is and respond without delay.
This gives residents independence and reassurance, wherever they are within range of a Nobi light or Gateway.
A typical shift with Wearable Calls
In the morning, a resident leaves their housing unit and walks to the common lounge.
While there, they begin to feel unwell. The resident presses their wearable call button.
The escalation is sent through the nearest Nobi light or Gateway, clearly indicating the location. Caregivers receive the alert in the Nobi Mobile App and see who is responding.
Later that day, another resident presses their wearable button while walking down the hallway. Again, the nearest Nobi light or Gateway relays the call. The system escalates. The team responds.
No searching or confusion about location.
The resident can ask for help with the press of a button, no matter where they are.
