How to Configure a Multi-person Housing Unit

A multi-person housing unit is a type of housing unit which can have up to two residents assigned to it. Unlike a Jack and Jill housing unit, the entire space is shared. Therefore, the strictest privacy settings of the two residents will be applied to the housing unit. 

A multi-person housing unit needs a Gen 2 Nobi light, and is not available in a room with a Gen 1 light. Each resident also needs smart monitoring enabled, otherwise the bed setup does not work.

There are two ways to configure the housing unit, based on the bed setup:

• One double bed shared by two residents.
• Two single beds in the same room.

 shared room limits some features. Escalations do not name the resident, the out of room monitoring event is not available, and housing unit settings apply to both residents rather than one.

When there are two single beds, Nobi also identifies and labels each bed individually so it can tell which resident is in which bed. This allows activities, like night reports or bed-related monitoring events to be configured for each resident. For two single beds, place both beds in their final position before you start, because moving a bed later means retaking the bed detection image.

Why

Shared bedrooms are common in care facilities. A multi-person housing unit lets one Nobi light cover the whole room, so both residents are protected by fall detection.

With two single beds, Nobi identifies each bed, so each resident keeps their own night reports and bed-related monitoring events, attributed to the right person.

With one double bed, both residents keep fall detection while sharing a bed. Residents can be assigned to escalations when they are closed.

Detailed steps

One double bed

1. Select Housing units from the menu.
   
2. Click +Add at the top right of the page to add a housing unit.
   
3. On the Basic info tab, set the housing unit type to Multi-person.
   
4. Leave the Bed setup as one double bed, which is the default.
   
5. Name the housing unit.
   
6. Choose which department the housing unit belongs to.
   
7. Enter the housing unit's WIFI settings, if different from the department WIFI.
   
8. Click Save.
   
9. Your multi-person housing unit is now created. 
10. Next, add a light to a room, then link residents to the housing unit. 

Two single beds

1. Select Housing units from the menu.
   
2. Click +Add at the top right of the page to add a housing unit.
   
3. On the Basic info tab, set the housing unit type to Multi-person.
   
4. Set the Bed setup to 2 single beds. Note that 1 double bed is the default.
   
5. Name the housing unit.
   
6. Select which department the housing unit belongs to.
   
7. Enter the housing unit's WIFI settings, if different from the department WIFI.
   
8. Click Save.
   
9. Your multi-person housing unit is now created. 
10. Next, add a light to a room. 
11. Before you identify the beds, make sure the beds are empty, nobody is in the room, and both residents have smart monitoring enabled.
12. On the room card, click the three dots and then Identify beds. The card also shows an Identify beds warning until this is done.
    
13. Nobi has already captured the image. Check that both beds are outlined on it. If they are not, click Retake picture.
    
14. Replace Bed A name and Bed B name with a unique name for each bed that does not include or refer to a resident's name.
    
15. Click Save.
    
16. Link residents to the housing unit. The bed is chosen in the same dropdown as the housing unit, which is why each bed needs its own name. 

You have now configured your multi-person housing unit. When an escalation occurs you still have to select the resident involved.
