• How to Pair the Wearable Call Button

Learn how to assign a wearable call button to a resident.

    2 min task

    What

The wearable call button is a small, portable button. A resident can carry it or wear it on the body by putting it inside a wristband or pendant. When the resident presses the button, a call request is sent through the nearest Nobi light.

    Why

Pairing the wearable call button allows residents to call for help from anywhere nearby a Nobi light.

Because the call can go through any Nobi light:

    • Residents can ask for help in shared spaces.

    • Residents can ask for help in another housing unit.

    • Residents can ask for help on behalf of someone else.

    This reduces confusion during incidents.
It also improves safety for residents who move around the care home.

    Detailed steps

    1. Navigate to the Residents overview.

    15 min task

    What

The Bluetooth door lock is mounted on the inside of your existing door lock. You don’t need to replace your lock or drill holes. Based on your lock cylinder, you’ll either use a clamp or an adhesive mounting plate.

    Why

The Bluetooth door lock helps residents enter and exit independently, while keeping their housing unit secure. A correct installation ensures the lock functions reliably, without damaging the existing cylinder. Choosing the right mounting option also ensures stability, especially with frequent use.

    Detailed steps

First, check the overhang of your door cylinder on the inside.

  • How to Install and Pair the Wired Switching Interface as a Switch

Learn how to wire and pair the wired switching interface (mains) module to control the Nobi light using an existing wall switch.

    7 min task

    What

A wired switching interface is a smart module powered by the electrical grid. It lets you use a regular wall switch to control the Nobi light without cutting off its power supply.

For a detailed description of other peripherals, go to our Types of peripherals page.

    Why

Installing and pairing a wired switching interface module ensures that the connected wall switch can operate the Nobi light without changing how the switch is used. Unlike the relay version, this device is wired into the building’s electrical system.

It gives residents or care staff a reliable and familiar way to use the Nobi light while maintaining full smart functionality. It must be paired via the Nobi app to function correctly.

Pair via the Nobi mobile app

Once installed, pairing the wired switching interface is done through the Nobi mobile app. Pairing is easy. Just follow the wizard to complete the connection. The button should be physically near the light during the process.

  • How to Place Nobi for Optimal Performance

Learn where to install Nobi and Nobita lights for complete room coverage and accurate detection.

    5 minute task

    What

Nobi lights are designed for bedrooms, living areas, and other common areas. Nobita lights are made for bathrooms, withstanding high humidity and temperature. Together, they ensure every part of a resident’s unit is monitored.

    Why

Correct placement of the Nobi(ta) Smart Lights ensures full coverage of the resident’s living space, avoiding blind spots and ensuring timely fall detection. Bedrooms, for example, need clear coverage of the bed for accurate in/out-of-bed detection, for this a Nobi is needed. On the other hand, bathrooms are high-risk areas for falls, so Nobita placement there is essential. When all areas are covered, Nobi’s safety features work optimally, giving peace of mind to caregivers and residents.

    Detailed steps

Follow these steps to place each Nobi and Nobita correctly for maximum coverage and reliability.

Before installation, confirm the Nobi in the resident's living space and the Nobita in the bathroom have overlapping or adjacent coverage areas, leaving no blind spots between rooms.

Using floor plans can be a helpful tool when it comes to confirm all areas — including ensuite bathrooms — are within detection range.

For best results, position each light so its sensors have a clear, unobstructed view of the key activity areas. Avoid placing lights behind beams, tall furniture, or decorative fixtures.

    Bedroom

    1. Identify the bed’s location on the floor plan.

    2. Install the Nobi light on the ceiling above the main walking space, ensuring the bed is fully visible in the coverage area. For optimal performance and safety, it is recommended to install the Nobi Smart Light at a sensor height (=height of the black dot on the light) ranging between 6.89 feet and 7.55 feet. This installation height ensures that Nobi’s artificial intelligence operates at its best.

    3. Avoid placing the light directly above wardrobes, large furniture, or areas blocked by room dividers.

    Bathroom (ensuite or separate)

    1. Select the Nobita light model for bathrooms.

    2. Install it on the ceiling, covering the shower, toilet, and sink areas. For optimal performance and safety, it is recommended to install the Nobi Smart Light at a sensor height (=height of the black dot on the light) ranging between 6.89 feet and 7.55 feet. This installation height ensures that Nobi’s artificial intelligence operates at its best.

    3. Position it away from direct water spray but within full view of the main floor space.

  • How to Add Peripherals

In this article, we'll walk you through how to add peripherals.

    4 min task

    What

Nobi allows for different devices to be connected to the light. We call these peripherals. These peripherals simplify the way you work and/or allow for more insights to be gathered. In order to use these peripherals, they need to be connected via bluetooth to a light within a housing unit. Some peripherals are applicable to an individual light, while others apply to the entire housing unit.

For a detailed description of the different sorts of peripherals, go to our Types of peripherals page.

    Why

It's important to connect each peripheral to the right light to make sure they work well together. This helps the light know exactly which device to communicate with.

    Adding peripherals

Setting up peripherals with Nobi is easy thanks to a wizard that guides you from selecting the appropriate peripheral to pairing it with the light.

Adding a peripheral to a Jack & Jill Housing unit? Please refer to our Jack & Jill page.

  • How to Add a Light to a Room

In this article, you will learn what a “room” is in Nobi, how to set one up, and how to link a light to that room.

    10 min task

    What

In Nobi, a "room" refers to a specific space within a housing unit. For example, a housing unit may include a bedroom, a living room, and a bathroom—each of these is considered a separate "room" in the Nobi system.

A Nobi light must be linked to a room to function properly. Setting up rooms within a housing unit helps keep your system organized and ensures that each light is correctly identified and managed.

    Why

In the Nobi application, every light is paired with a room. You only need to create a room if you plan to add a light to it.

The setup process uses Bluetooth, so we strongly recommend completing this setup via the Nobi App on a mobile device. It is essential to be physically present in the room where the light is installed to ensure a proper Bluetooth connection.
