Learn what proximity closing is and when it is used.
What
Proximity closing is a way to close wearable call and assistance call escalations in person.
It applies when remote closing is disabled in the escalation preferences via the Escalation flow.
The Close escalation button stays unavailable until the Nobi mobile app detects that the caregiver is close enough to the device that triggered the escalation.
Proximity closing uses Bluetooth. For Badge-triggered Assistance calls, NFC scanning may also be available as a separate closing method.
Why
Some communities require certain escalations to be closed in person instead of remotely.
Proximity closing supports this by confirming that the caregiver is near the wearable call button or Badge before the escalation can be closed.
This helps teams follow their care procedures and gives extra reassurance that support reached the right person.
A typical shift using Proximity Closing
During a morning shift, a resident presses their wearable call button to request assistance getting out of bed.
A caregiver accepts the escalation in the Nobi mobile app and walks to the resident's housing unit. Because proximity closing is enabled, the escalation cannot be closed immediately.
Once the caregiver reaches the resident and is near the wearable call button, the Close escalation button becomes available in the mobile app.
The caregiver provides assistance to the resident and then closes the escalation in the mobile app.
