In this article you will discover how Nobi notifies care staff of escalations via an Escalation procedure.
What
When an escalation occurs, help is needed quickly. Nobi achieves this by contacting care staff via the configured channels. This process is called an escalation procedure.
Nobi can send alerts through multiple channels: by calling a phone, in-app notification with the Escalations via Nobi Mobile App feature, mobile notifications, email, or through a nurse call system.
Who actually gets contacted depends on how they're being notified. When Escalations via Nobi Mobile App is enabled, only caregivers will receive the notification if they:
have permissions in that department, and
are signed into that working area in the app.
If the feature is off, or for phone escalations, only configured phone numbers listed in the escalation procedure are contacted.
Informational emails and mobile notifications work differently: rather than reaching everyone with a certain permission, they only go to the specific staff members the care home has chosen to add.
The escalation procedure can be configured at two levels:
- Site / community level: applies to all departments and rooms.
- Department level: overrides the site / community settings and sets an escalation procedure for the department.
Why
Without an escalation procedure, Nobi cannot alert you of a fall, resident call, assistance call, or escalatable monitoring events.
It is important that you configure the escalation procedure in such a way that each resident or staff member can be assisted as fast as possible in case of an escalation.
To get the most out of Nobi's escalation procedure:
Set a default procedure at the site / community level so no room is ever left without help.
Use the department level for tailored procedures in specific units.
