What
A Gateway can receive signals from Badges or Wearable Call Buttons and begin the escalation procedure, just like a Nobi light. Gateways are set up in common areas, such as hallways, lounges, or spaces outside resident housing units, and send these signals to Nobi Cloud when an escalation is triggered. The Nobi Gateway doesn't include fall detection, image or video capture, pose analysis, or two-way audio. Those features are only available on the Nobi light.
A Gateway is added as an area within a common area housing unit and paired over Bluetooth using the Nobi mobile app. While pairing, you connect it to your network, either Ethernet or WIFI, to reach Nobi Cloud.
Why
Adding a Gateway to a common area provides additional Nobi coverage in areas and housing units where a Nobi light isn't needed. This allows care staff to use their Badges or residents to use their Wearable Call Buttons to trigger escalations in common areas where Nobi lights are not installed.
Detailed steps
Before you start
- Make sure the Gateway is powered on and installed.
- Make sure the Bluetooth antenna is attached.
- If connecting over Ethernet, connect an Ethernet cable to the Gateway's PoE-in port.
- Make sure you have set up a Common area housing unit configured for Nobi Gateways.
- Stand near the Nobi Gateway you wish to pair.
Onboard the Nobi Gateway
Follow the steps below to onboard the Nobi Gateway.
- From the dashboard, tap the three lines in the top left to open the navigation menu.
- Navigate to Housing units in the left menu.
- Choose the housing unit you want to onboard the Gateway into and press the three dots.
- Press Edit.
- Tap on the Areas tab.
- Press +Add.
- Select the network connection type, WIFI or Ethernet. Then name the area and press Next.
- Press Start Link. A pop-up shows the Gateways available for pairing nearby.
- Select the Gateway and tap Pair. The wizard will go through the steps to indicate pairing.
- Once paired, the Gateway's LED color indicates the connection type: solid green for Ethernet, or green-yellow-green for WIFI.
You have now onboarded a Nobi Gateway into the housing unit.
